THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM
To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To be better far than you are
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star
Oh this is my quest to follow that star
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To fight for the right without question or pause
To be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause
And I know if I’ll only be true to this glorious quest
And my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I’m laid to my rest
And the world would be better for this
That one man scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage

Sognare il sogno impossibile
Combattere il nemico imbattibile
Sopportare un dolore insopportabile
Scappare là dove il valoroso atto di coraggio non va
Riparare un torto a cui non si può rimediare
Essere assai migliore di come si è
Sforzarsi quando le proprie braccia sono troppo stanche
Raggiungere la stella irraggiungibile.
Oh, questo è quello di cui sono alla ricerca: seguire quella stella,
non importa quant’è impossibile, non importa quant’è lontana.
Battersi per il giusto senza domande e senza interruzioni.
Essere disposto a sprofondare nell’inferno
in nome di una causa divina.
Io so che se solo sarò fedele a questa ricerca gloriosa,
il mio cuore resterà tranquillo e sereno quando morirò.
E il mondo sarebbe migliore per questo,
sarebbe migliore se un solo uomo, disprezzato e pieno di cicatrici,
ancora si batta, con l’ultima oncia di coraggio,
per raggiungere quella stella irraggiungibile.
