Il 25 Luglio 2005 a Tupelo è deceduta Janelle McComb per problemi di salute al cuore. Aveva 84 anni.
Janelle era amica della famiglia Presley da quando Elvis aveva 4 anni ed è sempre rimasta a Priscilla e Lisa Marie nel corso degli anni.
E' stata lei la forza trainante nel progetto del "Tupelo Youth Center", nella costruzione del museo e dell' "Elvis Memorial Chapel".
Janelle possiede un tesoro inestimabile: lettere e fotografie di Elvis Presley che non sono mai state rese pubbliche!!!!

Fu lei l'autrice della poesia che venne data a Lisa Marie in regalo per il suo 4° compleanno da Elvis nel 1972: "The Priceless Gift" (Il dono senza prezzo).
Quando Elvis la lesse ne restò commosso, tanto che nel 1976 commissionò a Janelle di scrivere un'altra poesia come dono di Natale per suo padre Vernon.
Un anno più tardi, poco dopo la morte di Elvis, fu il turno di Vernon e si rivolse a lei affinchè scrivesse una poesia per la lapide.
Janelle lo fece...ed è ciò che milioni di fans possono leggere facendo visita al Meditation Garden di Graceland.

Birthdays are always special
as your fourth one comes to you

They guided a man named Lincoln

It’s the only gift I gave you
That will never go out of date.

Apron strings changed the course of
History as great men felt their tug
They followed sons onto battle fields
Without the slightest shrug.

They guided both kings and beggars
Through harmony and strife
Son, you surely must have felt their tug
For how God has blessed your life.

I bowed my head and said a prayer
For I knew God had surely touched
A tattered old trunk so tucked away
And an apron that had meant so much.

So Lisa, I give you the “Priceless Gift”
