Elvis manda un telegramma a June Juanico, per chiederle di incontrarsi, durante una breve fermata a New Orleans. E’ in questa occasione che June gli fa sapere che si è fidanzata e si sposerà. Elvis arriva a Memphis alle 23.15

Mentre con la jeep fanno una svolta, Elvis viene scaraventato fuori dalla jeep e si fa male ad un ginocchio. Gli viene ordinato di stare a riposo per tre giorni e lui fa specifica richiesta di non informare la stampa

Agli American Studios, la band inizia a sovraincidere la parte strumentale e corale, ma senza Elvis, su canzoni incise precedentemente sempre negli stessi studi.

L’abituale serata di apertura normalmente è su invito, ma questa volta viene posticipata all’ultima sera del tour, in modo che coincida con l’apertura della nuova ala dell’Hilton. Sia la stampa che i fans descrivono questo opening show, con un Elvis di buon umore, rilassato e in buona forma fisica, pur se scherza sul suo peso e non fa le abituali mosse di karate.


Le nuove registrazioni includono nuove canzoni, tra cui il successo di Perry Como “And I Love You So”, due canzoni di Olivia Newton-John “Let Me Be There” e “If You Love Me (Let Me Know)” , poi “My Boy” e “It’s Midnight”, oltre ad una canzone che risale 1974, il blues di Jimmy Reed “Big Boss Man”
