Il secondo “Elvis Summer Festival” annuale apre con una misera recensione da parte dell’Hollywwod Reporter che definisce lo spettacolo “sciatto, provato frettolosamente, banale, scarsamente amplificato, occasionalmente monotono, spesso stupido e creato a casaccio…… Elvis appare giù di tono, stanco ed evidentemente appesantito”. Secondo quanto dice il giornale “il pubblico non avrebbe potuto essere meno attento…………. Però la gente assolutamente lo ama, lo riverisce ed esaudisce ogni suo desiderio”

Dopo la partita. Elvis invita l’hostess Jo Cathy Bownlee, ad andare con lui in aereo al Meachem Field di Fort Worth, per controllare il progressi dei lavori sul suo nuovo aereo ma quando lei rifiuta, Elvis lo offre ad un’altra ragazza che sta prendendo il suo posto alla partita. Cosi Elvis e il gruppo volano a Palm Springs, dove rimangono 3 giorni.

Nonostante queste affermazioni, Elvis modifica il suo show, inserendo dei movimenti delle dita della mano che sostituiscono i movimenti del suo corpo, ma anche così il pubblico impazzisce

Tramite il suo avvocato, rapidamente Elvis recede dall’affare del racquetball. Vuole che il suo nome venga tolto dal progetto, perché, dice, contrariamente a quanto aveva capito inizialmente, ora gli è chiaro che, per far parte della società, quello che ci si aspetta da lui è solo un considerevole apporto di denaro.
Più che l’aspetto legale della questione, Elvis si sente ferito nei suoi sentimenti ed è molto arrabbiato con Joe Esposito e il Dr. Nick per averlo messo in prima linea su questo affare.
Elvis rimugina di licenziare sia Joe Esposito che il Dr. Nick.
