ARETHA FRANKLIN MIGLIOR CANTANTE ROCK DELLA STORIA

ROMA - Era già considerata la Regina del Soul, ma da oggi Aretha Franklin è stata scelta anche come la migliore cantante Rock della storia. A rivelarlo è un sondaggio della rivista Rolling Stone - a cui hanno partecipato musicisti, produttori, gli stessi editori della rivista e molti esperti del settore - che sarà pubblicato nel numero in uscita negli Usa venerdì prossimo.

La Franklin ha preceduto in classifica altri 'mostri sacri' della musica: al numero due della classifica del magazine si è piazzato Ray Charles, seguito da Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke e John Lennon, giunto quinto.

Insieme alla Franklin, le uniche star presenti nel sondaggio e ancora in vita sono Bob Dylan, che è arrivato settimo, e Stevie Wonder, nono. Restano invece fuori dalle prime dieci posizioni Paul Mc Cartney, undicesimo, Mick Jagger, sedicesimo, e Michael Jackson, venticinquesimo della lista.

Forse bisognerebbe girare la domanda agli esperti del settore......secondo me ......noi possiamo solamente illazionare!!!!

Visto che, in questo caso, ci sono le basi per un'argomentazione, non è illazionare, ma semplicemente chiedere a chi ne sa più di me, per uno scambio di opinioni.

Hurt, non voglio fare nessuna polemica a riguardo.....voglio semplicemente dire che poichè gli esperti non hanno ancora espresso le motivazioni del loro giudizio, è inutile adesso dare dei giudizi nostri gratuti.......io aspetterò l'uscita della rivista Rolling Stones per leggerlo e capire poi darò un mio parere su questo articolo.........spero di essere letta in maniera assolutamente pacifica.....!!!!!!!!

Beyonce, omaggio ad Etta James nella colonna sonora di Cadillac Records

La popstar statunitense presente nel film e nel suo accompagnamento musicale.


Farà il suo debutto nei cinema d'oltreoceano il prossimo 5 Dicembre la pellicola, biografia in movimento della Chess Records, etichetta discografica di Chicago che negli anni '50 e '60 conobbe un florido periodo di successi grazie agli artisti arruolati nelle proprie file: il musicista blues Muddy Waters, il chitarrista e cantautore Chuck Berry e la star del soul Etta James.

E' proprio il ruolo di quest'ultima leggenda mondiale ad essere stato affidato a Beyonce, ex Destiny's Child e attualmente famosa cantante solista (tra gli hit singles sfornati dalla cantante vi sono Crazy in love, Baby Boy, Irrepleaceable e Beatiful liar).

"Ho capito che Etta era una donna talmente dinamica, verace e forte da poter risultare un rischio indossare i suoi panni sul grande schermo", ha confessato la 27enne star, aggiungendo orgogliosamente che "questa esperienza mi ha rafforzato, dandomi più sicurezza e voglia di esplorare di più i miei orizzonti musicali".

In seguito all'importanza della parte recitata dalla Knowles nel film, la canzone che trainerà la colonna sonora - nelle radio e nelle classifiche - sarà il remaxe da lei registrato del celebre brano dell'icona americana, At last, il quale verrà incluso nel relativo cd dedicato alle canzoni inserite nella pellicola e in pubblicazione per il prossimo 2 Dicembre.

Il progetto giungerà nei negozi in due versioni: quella standard conterrà un solo disco, mentre un packaging speciale avrà al suo interno ben 2 cd.

In totale sono 5 i pezzi incisi da Beyonce per questa soundtrack, in aggiunta ad altre tracce cantante dagli altri protagonisti di Cadillac Records, tra cui Columbus Short nella parte di Little Water e Mos Def in quella di Chuck Berry.

Nella tracklist del doppio album figurano anche canzoni di altri artisti come Raphael Saadiq, Mary Mary, Elvis Presley e Solange Knowles, sorella minore della popstar attrice del film.

Una piacevole sorpresa dovrebbe riservare la performance cinematografica di Beyonce Knowles, stando all'entuasiastico commento di Andrew Lack, presidente della Sony Bmg Music Entertaiment, nonchè produttore del progetto in collaborazione con Sophia Sondervan, boss esecutivo della Sony Bmg Films: "La gente rimarrà stupita dal fatto che un personaggio glamour come Beyonce abbia accettato di calarsi nei panni di una persona che ha passato tragici momenti di vita, come ad esempio l'uso di eroina", restando convinto del fatto che "questa è una Beyonce che - credo - nessuno ha mai visto prima d'ora".

La popolarità e la versatilità di questa giovane, ma già ben quotata, popstar assicureranno un buon successo al botteghino nei prossimi mesi.

Perdonate la mia ignoranza, probabilmente qualcuno si scandalizzerà della mia domanda ........ ma cosa c'entra Aretha Franklin con il rock???

A me risulta che sia sempre stata la regina del soul, del gospel e del R&B!

Sarà che sono rimasta legata a certi schemi musicali (non conosco quelli "moderni") ma io identifico con il termine "rock" un certo tipo di musica e personalmente non inserisco Aretha Franklin, che peraltro considero fantastica!!

C'è qualcuno a cui va di spiegarmi questa cosa??? Grazie

Hurt, pure io ieri quando ho letto l'articolo ho avuto dubbi...ma non ho chiesto perchè, non ascoltando Aretha Frankling e quindi non conoscendone l'intero repertorio, ho pensato che fosse una mia lacuna in materia.
Mi sembra invece di capire che i miei dubbi erano giustificati....

E meno male che sono stati gli esperti a decretarla al 1° posto ...
Come dice Enzo, siamo alla frutta...anzi, all'amaro, al caffè e stiamo pure uscendo dal ristorante!!!

You know a force from heaven. You know something that God made. And Aretha is a gift from God. When it comes to expressing yourself through song, there is no one who can touch her. She is the reason why women want to sing.
Aretha has everything — the power, the technique. She is honest with everything she says. Everything she's thinking or dealing with is all in the music, from "Chain of Fools" to "Respect" to her live performances. And she has total confidence; she does not waver at all. I think her gospel base brings that confidence, because in gospel they do not play around — they're all about chops, who has the vocal runs. This is no game to her.
As a child, I used to listen to Aretha's music because my mom played "Do Right Woman" and "Ain't No Way" every single day. I would see my mother cry when she listened to those songs, and I'd cry too. Then I discovered her on my own with the Sparkle soundtrack. I must have played "Giving Him Something He Can Feel" 30 times in a row; eventually, I connected the dots to that voice my mom was listening to.
Even the way she pronounces words is amazing: In "Giving Him Something He Can Feel," when she sings, "Many say that I'm too young" — the way she says "I'm," you can almost see her saying it, like she's all in your face, but you're still right with her. You can really visualize her hands when she sings, "You're tying both of my hands," on "Ain't No Way" — it's the powerful way she hits the word "both."
When you watch her work, you can see why Aretha is who she is. When we did the song "Don't Waste Your Time" on my album Mary, she just went in there and ate that record like Pac-Man. She could be doing a church vocal run, and it would turn into some jazz-space thing, something I never encountered before. You'd say, "Where did that come from? Where did she find that note?"
It's beautiful to see, because it helps people with a lack of confidence in their ability, like myself. I look at her and think, "I need a piece of that. Whatever that is."

There is a difference between people who sing and those who take that voice to another, otherworldly place, who create a euphoria within themselves. It's transfiguration. I know about that. And having met Elvis, I know he was a transformer.
The first Elvis song I heard was "Hound Dog." I wasn't equipped with any of the knowledge I have now, about the Big Mama Thornton version or where all that swing was coming from. I just heard this voice, and it was absolutely, totally in its own place. The voice was confident, insinuating and taking no prisoners. He had those great whoops and diving moments, those sustains that swoop down to the note like a bird of prey. I took all that in. You can hear that all over Led Zeppelin.
When I met Elvis with Zeppelin, after one of his concerts in the early Seventies, I sized him up. He wasn't quite as tall as me. But he had a singer's build. He had a good chest — that resonator. And he was driven. "Anyway You Want Me" is one of the most moving vocal performances I've ever heard. There is no touching "Jailhouse Rock" and the stuff recorded at the King Creole sessions. I can study the Sun sessions as a middle-aged guy looking back at a bloke's career and go, "Wow, what a great way to start." But I liked the modernity of the RCA stuff. "I Need Your Love Tonight" and "A Big Hunk o' Love" were so powerful — those sessions sounded like the greatest place to be on the planet.
At that meeting, Jimmy Page joked with Elvis that we never soundchecked — but if we did, all I wanted to do was sing Elvis songs. Elvis thought that was funny and asked me, "Which songs do you sing?" I told him I liked the ones with all the moods, like that great country song "Love Me" — "Treat me like a fool/Treat me mean and cruel/But love me." So when we were leaving, after a most illuminating and funny 90 minutes with the guy, I was walking down the corridor. He swung 'round the door frame, looking quite pleased with himself, and started singing that song: "Treat me like a fool. . . ." I turned around and did Elvis right back at him. We stood there, singing to each other.
By then, because of the forces around him, it was difficult for him to stretch out with more contemporary songwriters. When he died, he was 42. I'm 18 years older than that now. But he didn't have many fresh liaisons to draw on — his old pals weren't going to bring him the new gospel. I know he wanted to express more. But what he did was he made it possible for me, as a singer, to become otherworldly
