Qualche curiosità legata a questo evento

Nonostante quel sorriso carismatico che si vede nelle foto e che comunque lo caratterizzava, Elvis era terrorizzato all’idea che, vista l’immensità del “Dome”, con una capienza di 60.000 spettatori. i suoi spettacoli darebbero stati un flop.
Invece, come sempre, ebbe un successone con 6 shows che portarono un afflusso di più di 300.000 persone!!!!



Alla fine del secondo concerto, Elvis tiene un’altra conferenza stampa, durante la quale gli vengono consegnati 5 dischi d’oro per “Don’t Cry Daddy” “In The Ghetto” e “Suspicious Mind” oltre che per l’album “From Elvis In Memphis” .



In quest’occasione Elvis riceve vari regali in segno di gratidune per aver fatto il sold out, tra cui un Rolex d’oro, personalizzato (numero di serie 343) da parte della Houston Livestock Association



un distintivo d’oro di vice sceriffo e un cappello Stetson

27-02-1970 Elvis fa due show all’ Annual Texas Livestock Show all’Astrodome, Houston, TX.

Elvis fa un’entrata scenografica in una jeep scoperta, ma sia durante che dopo il primo show è notevolmente scoraggiato, non solo per l’ acustica scadente, ma soprattutto perché riscontra una presenza di pubblico che oltre che essere al di sotto delle capacità dello stadio, a suo avviso, non gli dà sufficiente soddisfazione.
Tra uno show e l’altro, Elvis commenta “Suppongo che devo dimenticarmi come sono abituato”.
Il suo morale si risolleva nello spettacolo della sera, che invece rivela un grande riscontro che di un pubblico composto da 36.299 persone.
In un articolo il Los Angeles Time definirà la sua performance “superlativa”
